Have you ever thought of something completely normal about your body just to understand that this is actually a medical condition? You’re not alone. We recently asked the BuzzFeed community to share medical conditions that they did not know that they have, while someone else did not specify a symptom – and their stories prove that sometimes the most important medical observations can come from the people around us, not just doctors. Here are some of the most opening answers:
1“I know this is a common problem but I had a friend to say I thought I was depressed. I thought, I’m not sad, so I’m not depressed. It took me years after this comment to learn that he was right and seeking help. Now I am happily at antidepressants and do much better than before. “

2.“One of my friends published about her recent Hashimoto diagnosis and shared the infographic with a list of common symptoms. I ran along the list and found that I was checking many boxes. I went to my doctor for primary help shortly afterwards to manage my laboratories and certainly had the same condition! This friend did not save my life.”

3“When I was in college, I mentioned a teammate in my Cross Country team that I can’t sleep because my mind will compete – just so many thoughts that supported me.

4.“Because I was a teenager, I would tell people that I am allergic to the cold. My skin will become super itching and go out in spots and dry spots. They all laugh when I said I was allergic to temperature. Now I’m 31.
“So I’m allergic to the cold. Lol.”

5.“Hormonal dysfunction. I am a woman who has severe acne and severe periods of puberty – like changing the pad every two minutes. We also experienced tests.

“I am now a birth control and life has never been better. I have never realized that something is wrong because it has always been so – periods, hair, acne, appetite. I even thought I just didn’t have a waist.

6.“Autism. Everyone said that my son was just like me when I was little. He had already been diagnosed with autism, so I had tested himself too – I’m too autistic.”

7.“Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome! I had someone to offer me a gentle check (after years of unexplained symptoms) and a boom, I was a textbook case.”

9.“I thought everyone had a television static vision. No. It turns out that I just had a visual snow syndrome. I understood it when I randomly read an article about it, and I was like,” Hey, wait a while … “It’s like the internet.”

10.“My wife and I take care of 10 years. When one of our foster children came with severe problems with the uncertainty of food, my wife explained all the signs we had to watch. As she went through the list, I realized that I had all these problems.
“I grew up very poorly and did not realize how impactful this was on me as an adult. With this realization came a deep understanding of my unhealthy connection to food. It did not fix everything, but it opened my eyes to the fact that I am now, it is not where I was then.

11.“I had a really bad back pain from an unrelated injury and during an X -ray, the medical team noticed spots on my lungs. Without this observant radiologist who notices something completely unrelated to what I entered, I may have never realized that I had sarcoidosis.”

12.“I always thought I was allergic to my own sweat and I train, as I would have tried in hives! I didn’t know what was happening while the medical professional did not diagnose me with spontaneous urticaria – an autoimmune problem in which my body is too histamine.

13.“” When I was a younger one, I had some problems with GI. When radiology reports appeared, they showed that my appendix was on the left due to genetic maltration of the colon. The doctor did not bother to tell me, but I heard him tell his nurse. A few years later, I had pain on the left side and suspected that chronic apensitis.

14.“Many years ago, when I was experiencing heavy migraines, I had a few scans on my head to turn off my internal cause. When the results came back, the doctor asked if I had ever hit my head and lost some consciousness. My brain explained a lot about my impulse control problems that I had never understood before.”

15.“I had what they call the” silent “endometriosis. Now it is far from silent, but I had absolutely no symptoms for years. I only realized because a surgeon found it unexpectedly when I entered for a completely unrelated procedure to contact my tubes.”
