Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are two of the hottest electric SUVs on the market. Adding to their appeal, both SUVs have recently been updated. The Y Model Y model has a new style, higher quality interior materials and smoother ride quality. Changes to 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 are not as dramatic, but you get more range, easier to use control and new ways to charge. Who recently updated electric SUVs is a better purchase? Edmond’s experts compare them to understand.
Scope and charging
The Model Y Model Y is currently available only in the version of all wheels on all wheels. It delivers EPA 327 miles from the range, which is impressive for a double motor electric SUV. Edmunds tests this version of its independent, standardized EV scope test and found that Tesla corresponds to EPA assessment when driving in the real world.
The estimated scope of the Ioniq 5 of 2025 extends from 245 miles to the main model to 318 miles in most models of single -motor models that are rear -wheel drive. Edmunds tests Ioniq 5 Limited with double electric motors and all wheels drive. He defeated his EPA estimate of 269 miles, passing 282 miles in Edmunds testing.
The new Ioniq 5 loading port allows it to charge at most Superlager Tesla fast loading stations. The Y model has access to any type of Tesla charging station. Both can also be loaded in stations that are not with non-tesla. When using a high -power fast loading station, Model Y can add up to 169 miles in 15 minutes. Ioniq 5 charges a little faster, regaining 178 miles in 15 minutes.
Tesla offers a little more maximum range, but charges a little more slow, which makes it a connection here.

Interior and technological features
Tesla paches many standard technologies in Model Y, including a large 15.4-inch central touch screen, an audio system with 16 speakers, double wireless telephone charging devices and several advanced driver aids. You can also transmit movies and play arcade games when you are parked. The full Tesla driving system is an expensive option, but it can drive and navigate Model Y’s traffic on the city streets and highways, as long as the driver pays attention and is ready to take control if necessary.
The IoniQ 5 base garnish comes standard with a 12.3-inch central touch screen and a pleasant number of sophisticated driver aids. The wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay and Android Auto Integration Smartphone is also standard; None of the system is available to Model Y. However, you should upgrade to a higher upholstery for the BOSE audio system with eight speakers and a modernized system to assist highway driving.
Both SUVS seds five and are spacious and comfortable. They also ride smoothly over irregularities and are drawn up at a turn. But Edmonds discovered that it was the small things that help Ioniq 5 get an advantage here. Its 360-degree camera system is more useful than Tesla when parking, for example, and its controls and functions are easier to use and learn. The Model Y touch screen, which controls almost anything, can be distracted for use while driving.
Winner: Ioniq 5
Utility
The Y model provides cargo loads: 29 cubic feet behind the rear seats and a huge 71.4 cubic feet with the folded back seat. The front trunk adds another 4.1 cubes. The Ioniq 5 has less space, but it is enough for most people: 26.3 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 58.5 cubic feet with folded rear seats. However, its front trunk is large enough only for charging cable.
As for the storage of small elements, both SUVs provide many compartments and significant doors pockets. Ioniq 5 has a movable central console that is comfortable at times.
Winner: Model Y.
Pricing and value
At present, all the Model Y wheels start at $ 50,630, while other models should be available later. Although not cheap, it is an excellent value because of its extensive list of standard technological features, several standard comfort features such as heating and ventilated front seats and long range.
The model of the basic standard range of Ioniq 5 starts at $ 44,075, but provides only 245 miles of range. The SE, which offers 318 miles, is about $ 4,000 more. None of them have as many standard features as Tesla, but the shorter price makes Hyundai achievable for buyers with less budgets. Both the Y and Ioniq 5 are ranked for federal tax loans.

Says Edmonds
This comparison is withdrawal; Both electric SUVs are an excellent choice, so it comes down to personal preference. If you want a more traditional vehicle, which is easier to use, go for Ioniq 5. But if you prefer the ministical design of the Y model and the distinctive technological features, this is EV for you.
