Google Maps, whether you use it on Android or iOS, is a feature -packed app – by guidance on what to see in your local area of the ability to share your location with friends and family in real time. Google Maps is also fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, so if you have one or both services installed on the dashboard of your vehicle, you will see the mapping app when your phone or iPhone is connected. There are several useful features that you can use on Google Maps on this second screen.
Change the appearance of your vehicle

You do not need to settle for the standard blue arrow that is your vehicle on the card: look for directions for your trip on your phone, and on the visualization card (showing the estimated travel time), tap the icon showing three sliders to the right. Then select Avatar To choose a new icon and a new color for the card.
Find somewhere to stop the road

If you want to stop for gas, groceries or something else during your trip, you are lucky: you can do this without losing step by step navigation that is already displayed on the screen. On the Android Auto Travel Card (showing the estimated travel time), tap the restorative glass icon, and then start searching the type you are looking for.
You will see some examples such as cafes and gas stations that you can choose by touch. Google Maps shows you the best matches on your current route, along with how long it will take to get around you to add it to any of the options to add it to your route. The step-by-step instructions are then updated to include the additional stop you have just added.
It’s a little different if you use Google Maps via Apple Carplay: Tap the Travel Card, then tap Add a stop On top, which displays a list of suggestions. Both Android Auto and Apple Carplay allow you to write or talk a specific type of location you want to stop. As always, be careful to do something as you move.
Switch the map perspective

On Android Auto you will see a compass icon on the right. Tap this switch between three views on the card: 3D promising view, north upstream and viewing of the trip. On Apple Carplay you only get 3D and northern views; You can reach them by tapping the travel card, showing the travel time, then the gear icon.
Help other road users

Google Maps comes with a built -in warning feature for other users for what is happening on the road. If you use Google Maps on Android Auto or Apple Carplay, you can find it by touching the yellow danger icon (triangle) left or right of the interface. A new box appears, allowing you to report a number of incidents of your location.
The options here vary slightly depending on where you are in the world, but they will usually include Collapse., Congestionand Closing the tapeS If enough Google Maps users make the same report in the same place, then Google will update its traffic databases accordingly – so everyone sees the additional information you have added.

You have options when it comes to the card shown. On the display of your car, tap the gear icon (Android Auto) or the travel card, then the gear icon (Apple Carplay) and get options to display current movement conditions and satellite view. Android Auto also has 3D buildings that you can use instead of a satellite card.
Share your trip with other people

Whether you are heading to a work conference or family gathering, the people you meet will appreciate when you will actually arrive (and this saves you from continuing to send messages to notify everyone that you will be late).
However, during writing, this is only available on Google Maps on Android Auto. Tap the three points on the travel card (showing the estimated travel time), then select Share a tripS A list of contacts pops up, but you can also search the list by writing or talking. Then the contact you choose can see where you are with the advancement of your trip.

You do not have to want every step of a trip of Google Maps, especially if you are trying to listen to a podcast or are on a route that you are quite familiar with. Tap the speaker icon on the dashboard to silence or simply Audio instructions; On Android Auto you can also choose Only signals (So just the corresponding road accidents).
