I spent $ 180 on a red -eyed flight to Europe. I would book the same budget airline again, but there is one thing I would change.

  • I took a red -eyed flight from New York to Berlin with Norwegian Atlantic Respiratory Roads in October 2022.

  • For $ 180, I traveled at night on a continuous economical flight with a number of places to me.

  • Although I thought the flight itself was perfect for red eyes, I started my journey, feeling exhausted.

In October 2022, I took an eight-hour flight with red eyes with an airline that I never heard of-Norwegian Atlantic.

The budget airline began flying in 2022 and has continuous trips from the United States to Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom, France, Greece and Italy.

The flight from my home to New York to Berlin began a two -week train trip through Europe. I was traveling with the less famous airline because it was the cheapest continuous flight from my local airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

I booked a ticket to an economy-light, the lowest available for $ 88. I also spent $ 75 on Advanced Sead Section and a $ 20 airport registration fee. The trip costs a total of $ 183.

In the past, I appreciated home flights with red eyes because they give me an extra day to my destination.

But it was my first international flight with red eyes and long -distance travel at night left me exhausted at the beginning of my trip. It wasn’t worth the day I saved.

I arrived at JFK at 9:30 pm for my flight from 12:30 in the morning.

I could check online for free, but I wanted to print my boarding passage at the airport.

On late Sunday night, the JFK terminal felt quite empty.

I easily reached my gate without any crowds in the terminal. In addition to people in line to get on an airplane, I hardly saw anyone.

My flight began to get up at 11:30 pm

I was among the last to get up and settled in place around midnight.

The layout for the flight was three columns with three seats in each row.

I paid extra to choose the window seat before the flight so I could rest by leaning against the wall.

A Norwegian representative told Business Insider that the seats of the economy light are 17.2 inches wide with a 3-inch retreat.

I felt like a standard airplane seat for me.

I thought I had enough leg space, even with my backpack, pushed under the seat.

My ticket did not include access to storage of above ground bins, but I only had a backpack, so I didn’t mind.

The step of the seat was between 27 and 32 inches, according to the representative.

In front of me there was a movie fun screen, television shows and information about my flight.

Although I spent the bigger part of the time trying to fall asleep, I rated the screen.

As the plane was preparing for take -off, I was excited that I had a whole order for me.

In fact, I noticed that many of the seats are empty.

My seat pocket contained a menu of amenities, including headsets, blankets, neck pillows and sleep masks, though I didn’t buy any.

Convenience prices ranged from $ 3.50 for cable headsets to $ 6.50 for a comfortable kit that included ear plugs, sleep mask and neck pillow.

After taking off, the aircraft was quiet and slightly illuminated. But I hardly never sleep well on planes and it was no exception.

I woke up several times at night.

At one point at night I went to the bathroom and found it cleaner than most bathrooms I was in.

Unlike most economic planes I used, the floor was not sticky and the garbage was not overflowing.

In the morning, the flight attendants appeared with food and drink service, so I looked at the menu in my pocket in the seat.

I found that food and drinks were not included in the price of my ticket, so I skipped them.

I landed in Berlin about an hour earlier than planned, so I was in the air for only seven hours.

Still, when I got off the plane, I felt completely exhausted due to lack of sleep.

Although I felt tired, as I would after every flight with red eyes, I was impressed by the budget airline and reserve again with Norwegian.

The flight was comfortable and clean, and the landing was a nice bonus early.

Once in Berlin, I still had a two -hour train trip to my Airbnb out of town and barely managed to keep my eyes open.

Even after a night of sleep, I found that the exhaustion of the flight overnight, combined with a jet lag, continued for days. This was not perfect at the beginning of a two -week adventure.

My exhaustion escaped within a few days of my trip, but I had a constant thought – the next time I fly internationally, I wouldn’t mind spending a little more money and a little less time on my destination for a day flight.
