Authorities in Texas confirmed that the human rib found last December belonged to Texas student A&M Caleb Harris, whose remains were found in wastewater, many months earlier.
The last update to the tragic death of a college student came on Friday, March 28, when the CCPD Corps Police Department (CCPD) said an employee of the city at the Greenwood water recycling plant found the bone on December 2, 2024.
“The Greenwood water recycling plant is the same place where the content of the Perry Place lift was transported in June 2024 after the discovery of Caleb Harris’s remains,” authorities continued.

According to authorities, the bone was discovered by subcontractors in a dried bed at the facility. He was taken by an CCPD employee and transported to the Nueces County Medical Review Cabinet.
The Nueces County Medical Examination Service announced the positive identification of the bone in an amendment received by people on Friday, March 28th.

As for why it appeared months later, a CCPD spokesman said the rib could be ignored among the human remains discovered last June, Call time Reported.

Based on interviews with family and friends and review of surveillance footage, police have previously said they have managed to determine that Harris spent the evening of March 3 in his apartment outside the campus in the 1900 block of Ennis Joslin Road with his roommates and a common friend.
Around 2:44 in the morning, on March 4, Harris shared Snapchat’s video with her younger sister, who showed him that he was walking a puppy through what he seemed to be the parking of the complex, according to police. A few minutes later, he shared a photo of Snapchat with a friend on a small bridge within a few hundred feet from the entrance of his apartment complex.

The deputy boss Billy Billy of the Corps Corps Police Department told People in July that they did not know how Harris ended up in the sewer system first. Although Harris could be “injured and then placed there” – although they did not have evidence of it – the researcher said it was also possible to accidentally fall into the shaft.
When the Harris autopsy report was published next month, authorities said that at the time his remains were found, they were already in an “advanced state of decomposition and skeletonization”.
“Although significant traumatic injuries have not been identified, the condition of the remains could have darkened fine injuries and/or additional significant natural diseases,” the medical examinations continued, noting that his analysis of toxicology returned negative.
In the end, the medical examination wrote that the “exact details” leading to his death remain unclear. “Therefore, the cause and the way of death are classified as indefinitely. If additional information becomes available in the future, the cause of the death can be changed if necessary,” the employee added.

The medical examination service said in its amendment, shared on March 28, that the cause and way of death of Harris remain unspecified.
