The change is coming this summer on Jacksonville’s concert scene, but the music will be excellent from the appearance of it.
There is a new place in the city. Five opened in the former Sun-Ray Cinema with five points, as a place for 1200 standing fans.
Another is coming. The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall has been closed for more than a year and will open in August as an extended place with some permanent seating areas. When it is completed, it will be approximately the same size as five and it will be interesting to see how seats compete for acts and fans.
A new nightclub, Decca Live, opened on Bay Street in downtown Jacksonville this year and regularly reserved acts. Right down the street, the former horn club rebrands as an Albatross and has its own sheet of shows.
Daily’s place is lighter than the usual schedule this summer as construction begins at the next Everbank stadium. There is still no word whether Daily’s will work throughout the year when crews remove the upper decks of the stadium or next year, when the stadium will be closed completely while new decks are being built.
Even with all changes, you don’t have to look too difficult to find a show that matches your tastes.
Ringo Star comes to St. Augustine this summer.
Jacksonville’s upcoming concerts: Here’s who’s playing this summer
Beatlemaniac? Ringo Star’s game. President? Kidz Bop is coming. Southern rocker? Molly Hatche makes a show in his hometown at Florida Theater. Country? Choose between Shania Twain, Brad Paisley, Riley Green or Red Clay Strests. The heart comes and that’s how the heart is. Lil Poppa and Lil Duval all have book performances, as well as Lil Baby, Da Baby and Skilla Baby. Jazz fans will dig postmodern Jubox, hip-hopures will flock to Ice Cube and Jezy’s show, and people looking for laughter have Nate Bargace and Niki Glazer.
