La Pizzeria, owned by Brandi and Demetrios Lambidonis, is now participating in a political clash that has become personal.

“We have a very profitable one … or we had a very profitable business here,” Brandi said. “He was doing extremely well. We didn’t want to move away from it.”

The issue began above a sign of a mayoral election campaign on the Bay of Persian. Restaurant owners tell WKRG News 5 that their landlord came to put the signs for his wife’s election campaign in front of the business.

Wkrg News 5 asked Lambidonis’s family who their landlord is.

“Our owners are Angie and David Swiger,” they replied.

“We didn’t want to look biased, so we turned to other candidates who opposed the candidate’s sign, which was placed in our business,” Brandi said. “Either we wanted all published candidates or none.”

According to La Pizzeria owners, David Swiger has removed the signs of enemy candidates, throwing them behind the restaurant. When this happened, Lambidonis said they decided to remove the signs of Angie Swiger’s campaign to keep things fair.

“He came hot and heavy, telling me that her signs would either be published, or that he would terminate the lease,” Demetrios said. “It was definitely an ultimatum. It was his way or the highway.”

“Business and politics are not mixed,” Brandi said. “They never have and never. It is a pity that the landlord has the power to tell someone who hires their property they need to contact.”

The owners of pizzeria took their concerns at the Monday Night City Council meeting, where things were heated during and after the meeting. A verbal dispute between Angie Swiger and the Lambidonis family witnessed and caught a camera 5 and community members after the Council meeting was completed.

“D -ju Suiger continued to come out, and as she was passing, my husband and our son, she directs her finger and yells and tells us how shameful and wrong we are,” Brandi said.

The owners of the pizzeria eventually decided to terminate their rent contract with Swigers, even after the two came to the restaurant to apologize, asking them to stay.

“We were not expelled,” Brandi Lambidonis said. “We were pushed into an angle to make a choice. We made our choice.”

The Lambidonis family told News 5 that they are working to coordinate a way to donate residual food from their restaurant to a local food bank so that it does not waste.

They said they had contacted several lawyers and have not yet found one who is ready to deal with their case because it is “politically connected”.

“I believe in our community and the good people in it. This political low blow is not in character with our community and is not a representation of the inhabitants of the shores of the Persian Gulf.

Mayor Pro Temp and this advice should be ashamed of the use of these chambers of the Council, the very symbol of our city government to organize an ambush and to try to ashamed and to reassure the voice of the mayor and citizen on the shores of the Persian Gulf.
But this is often the case and our residents are very intelligent and will see what it is.
It has been complained to be used as a political instrument.

The tenant did not lose his lease on the matter.
He was not forced to close his business.
We did not make them or their employees “lose their livelihood.”
They made the choice to leave immediately after the summer season was over.
Who closes your business, your dream throughout life over a sign?

My husband apologized for the over -response and removed my signs. Although I was not there, I apologized to the tenant and his wife. We both asked them to stay. “We had a great relationship in the 4 months you were here, and we hope you stay.”

We have been working for 32 years and have tenants who have been with us for decades. The whole situation is very strange.

It is more clear than ever how much we need a change. I’m here for that. “
