Sea-sedeety-three-three people were arrested here the weekend of memory day during the 72-hour period, darkened by matches, uneducated crowds and three stabbing that prompted police to close the pedestrian alley on May 26.
The road on board opened later during the day, after the arrests of 52 adults and 21 minors from 6am to May 23 to May 26, May 26, said Detective Steve Corman, a police spokesman.
One of the arrested adults was accused of possessing a firearm, he said.
Five minutes after the last of three reported pierces during this period of time, police chief Thomas Boyd closed the pedestrian walkway at 12:05 on May 26, “taking an active approach to ensure public safety,” Korman said.
None of the stabs were fatal and none of the victims cooperated in an investigation into law enforcement, he said.
Also, during the 72-hour pedestrian period, he was struck by a vehicle in a neighboring marine park and flew a helicopter to a medical facility, Korman said.
The holiday weekend brought approximately 100,000 visitors to the area, Korman said.
“The last few days have been chaos in this city,” said Sarah Frelli, a bartender at Tap’s house on the pedestrian walkway.
“It’s usually not the case,” Frailli said. “There are many children here on the weekend of memory day, more than usual over the last few years, many fights on the pedestrian walkway.
“The kids were out of control,” she said. “It’s like the jersey shore show.”
After large groups of genuine teenagers created Boardwalk’s chaos on the day of memory day in the recent past, this year Borough employees have launched plans to increase the presence of police and impose
“It is supposed that there is a commandant for children who are minors who should not be on the pedestrian walk after 10pm,” Frailli said. “But I think the last two nights, Friday and Saturday, there was no way to master it in a sense, and then they finally had enough after the last (Sunday) evening and made an evacuation on the whole board.” “
Ocean County District Prosecutor D. Bilhimer said the police had not protected any pedestrian alley businesses.
Bilhimer said his cabinet detectives have been in Seaside Heights throughout the weekend to help police in Boro.
“As long as I’m disappointed with the behavior of some of the people who came to visit Seaside Heights this weekend, the Seaside Heights Police Department, and all supporting agencies in general, have done a great job this weekend, guaranteeing the safety of the greater part of our residents,”
Boro police in the weekend were also employees of the Ocean County Sheriff’s office and the brick police, including the K9 of the two agencies, Korman said.
Among the numerous calls that the police responded to were the three pierces.
The first happened around 8:00 pm on May 24th on the Ocean Bloc on Webster Avenue, Korman said. There, the officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a stab wound on his back, the detective said. The victim was appreciated by a first aid squad at Tri-Boro and flew a helicopter at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, he said.
Around 6:45 pm on May 25, the officers responded to a signal of another Avenue Sherman and the Ocean Terrace, where they found a 22-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the hip joint, Korman said. The victim was appreciated by first aid at three-bar and an ambulance in Jersey Shore, he said.
Around 12:00 on May 26, police responded to Avenue Karney and the Ocean Terrace to a third -stamp report. They found an 18-year-old man with a stab wound on the right thigh, Korman said. He was also appreciated by first aid by Tri-Boro and took an ambulance to Jersey Shore.
Five minutes later, the police chief ordered on board to close, Korman said.
All three victims of piercing were “non -judicial and signed any more police assistance/investigation,” Korman said.
Around 1 morning on May 26, police were called to the battle of Grant Avenue and the Ocean Terrace. During the police reaction, the patrol James Hans arrested Byron Choplitsky, 21 years old from Beechwood, and accused him of possessing a firearm, possessing a weapon for an illegal purpose, resistance to arrest and obstruction of justice, Korman said.
Bilhimer promised constant support to the police chief of Seaside Heights and Mayor Anthony E. VAZ.
“We will work with Seaside Heights and all our coast cities to make sure that we are constantly making improvements in strategic planning for these holiday weekends,” Bilhimer said. “We will not tolerate iniquity here in Ocean County.”
