Independent journalist Christopher Rufo announced on Monday that, according to the full application for Colombia of Mamdani, he marked 2140 of 2,2400 on SAT, which is under the average result of students admitted to the university in 2009.
A statement from the university in 2009 said that students accepted in the class of 2013, marked between 2110 and 2,300 on SAT, which would put Mamdani in the range, but below the average.
Mamdani said he identified himself as “an American born in Africa” and said that checking multiple boxes was an effort to reflect his “complex origin” not to gain an advantage in the competitive acceptance process.

Mamdani told Times that in addition to these forms in college, he does not remember that he has never identified himself as a black or African American.
