The Bollywood star Vicran Massi shared in her Instagram stories, confirming that his cousin Kunder was the first Ai171 flight officer, Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, who came down after flying on Thursday, June 12th.
“My heart breaks up for the families and relatives of those who have lost their lives in the unimaginably tragic air disaster today in Ahmedabad,” Masie writes.
“It hurts me to know that my uncle, Clifford Kunder, lost his son Clive Kunder, who was the first officer operating on this fateful flight,” he added. “May God give strength to you and your uncle family and all deeply affected.”

The Ai171 flight “traveled from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick” when he was “involved in an accident after take -off,” Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said in a statement shared by X.
There were 230 passengers – including 169 Indian citizens, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese citizens and one Canadian citizen – and 12 crew members at the time, he said.
The AP reported that the crash happened in a residential area around 1:43 pm local time – just 5 minutes after take -off.

One person, a 40-year-old Briton named Vishash Kumar Ramesh, survived the crash, according to reports in local media.
“Thirty seconds after departure there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed,” he told Times from his hospital bed. “Everything happened so fast.”
No details have been released on what caused the crash or how many people have died. An investigation is being conducted.
Wilson said in his statement that Air India “is actively working with the authorities on all efforts to respond in emergencies.” An auxiliary line was also created for friends and family members affected by the crash, he added.

Later, he added: “We understand that people are impatient for information. Please know that we will continue to share accurate and timely information as soon as possible. But everything we report should be accurate and not speculating. We owe it to all participants.”
