New York (AP)-The District Prosecutor of Manhattan, Alvin Bragg, the prosecutor who led the case for the historic hash against President Donald Trump, won the primary Tuesday when he sought re-election.
Brag defeated Patrick Timins – a lawsuit, a law professor and a former assistant – Bronx Prosecutor – to move to the general elections in November. About 70% of the registered Manhattan voters are Democrats.
The first term will face Republican Mod Majon, who has been a public defender for decades and has previously been running for the Congress and the New York City Council as a Democrat.
Brag has long been one of the most famous prosecutors of the nation, spotted in the Law and Order of Television and other shows. DA directs about 600 lawyers at one of the largest local prosecutors in the US
He picked up the office profile even more, led the hash-pairing case. His predecessor, associate of Democrat Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., spent years investigating various Trump relations, but does not charge.
Brag decided to focus on how and why porn actor Stormy Daniels was paid $ 130,000 to take advantage of his allegations of a 2006 sexual meeting with married Trump. The payment was made through the personal lawyer of the then candidate, weeks before the 2016 presidential election, Trump’s company registered the money as a legal expense.
Trump denied any misconduct and any sexual involvement in Daniels. But last year, the jury found him guilty of 33 crimes for falsifying business records, the first of his own former sentence of the US again.
Trump appealed the sentence. The Republican president has long been laughing at the case as a political “witch hunt”, and he continued to perceive Bragg from social media recently in March.
The 51 -year -old Brag was a civil rights lawyer, a federal prosecutor and the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor General of New York before he became DA. Raised in Harlem and educated in Harvard, he is the first black man to hold the post.
His term of office had a rock start. Days after he took office in 2022, he issued a note, telling employees not to pursue some types of cases or to seek a guarantee or prison in some others. Following criticism from the police commissioner and others, Brag apologized for creating a “confusion” and stating that his cabinet was not relieved in serious cases.
The question continued to animate its critics. Trump has repeatedly marked Bragg “Soft on Crime”, and Timins said on the homepage of his campaign site that the note “led to increased crime and chaos perception on the subway and on our streets.”
Timmins – which has raised about $ 154,000 to $ 2.2 million in Bragg from January 2022 – also promised to do more to increase subway crime, prevent them from being rejected for failure to obey legal deadlines and to prioritize offenses, among other things.
Brag’s campaign emphasizes his efforts to fight weapons, to help survivors of sexual assault, to pursue hate crimes, and to commit bad landlords and operating bosses, among other priorities.
In the meantime, his cabinet has been included in a number of high -profile cases in recent months.

Brag unexpectedly inherited the case from the Vance Weinstein era after the Court of Appeal has ruled a new trial.
