San Diego (FOX 5/Kusi) – Former CEO CEO of Qualcomm was convicted by a federal jury on Tuesday on charges of fraud and money laundering after his participation in a massive $ 180 million scheme, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release.
After a four-week process, the jury was discussed less than two days before finding 58-year-old Dr. Karim Arabi, guilty of organizing complex fraud that qualcomm deceived to pay millions of dollars for a microchip technology that he created under false claims.
Dr. Arabs, who at the time was Vice President of the Division for Research and Development of Qualcomm, agreed that any technology developed during his term in Qualcomm would belong to the company, DOJ explained. However, he violated this agreement by establishing a company Abreezio to offer and sell technology for which Qualcomm has unknowingly paid.

The jury found that DR Arabs secretly ruled Abrezio, even choosing its name and deals strongly with its operations, while concealing its role from Qualcomm. He also created fake email accounts to introduce himself to his sister Sheaida Allen, who was presented as an alleged inventor of Microchip technology, the press release was explained. In fact, Sheeda is not involved in the creation or development of technology, and she even changed her surname in 2015 as part of the efforts to conceal the D -R Arabs with the company.
Qualcomm eventually paid nearly $ 92 million to the sister of D Arabs. He then uses this money to invest in real estate in Canada and Norway, and also drinks receipts through intermediary companies. The scheme continued even after Qualcomm launched a civil fraud lawsuit, such as Arabs, according to DOJ, and passed more money through Shell’s companies to his arrest.
“The defendant took advantage of the confidence he placed in him, lining his pockets with millions by organizing a scheme to mislead and then bleeding his own employer,” said US lawyer Andrew Haden. “His actions were not just a betrayal of the company – they were a direct attack on the very principles of justice and integrity that maintained a business honest. Today’s sentence of jurors sends a clear message: there are consequences in the southern California district of California.”
