Owners of Pace Pharmacy were arrested again on June 23 on more drugs related to drugs after their arrest in a continued investigation into a suspected local pill and drug scheme.
Santa Rosa County MPs arrested Stephen and Monique Berklu for multiple crimes and offenses. The deputies also arrested 22-year-old Laikin Burklow, who shares the same home address as Stephen and Monique because of a disturbance of possessing a new legend over-the-counter.
Stephen Burklow was arrested on charges of crime and possession of drugs, as well as a violation of the crime of possessing a new legend of drug. Monique Burklow was arrested for possession of drugs and a crime by counting a new legend of drug.
Earlier, older Berklaus were arrested on combined 14 charges related to alleged money laundering, drug trafficking and racketeering through their family pharmacy.
All three were released from the prison of Santa Rosa County by bond on June 23. As of June 24, the State Prosecutor’s service has not publicly filed a lawsuit for the new accusations of Stephen and Monique Berklu or for the first time a charge against Likes Berklu.
Who are Stephen and Monique Burclrow?
Stephen “Steve” A. Burklow, 54 -year -old, and Monik Hunter Berklu, 58, are spouses, and the owners of Pace Pharmacy, located on 4880 Woodbine Road.
Stephen A. Burclrow was licensed as a pharmacist on August 3, 1993, according to the Florida Ministry of Health Records and has been an independent owner of pharmacy for 20 years, according to his website. Previously, he owned and managed the Burklow pharmacy, also at a tempo.
It specializes in compiling, the practice of mixing customer -specific medicines in the house and an independent retail pharmacy.
Stephen Berklaw, Monique Burclrow, arrested after a long -year FDLE investigation
Stephen Burklow, who acted as a pharmacist, and Monique Burklow, who acted as a pharmacy office manager, were the subject of a multi -year investigation by many agencies, led by the Florida Lawning Ministry.
The arrests went down to the two, as did the second pharmacist David Winkles in May, with accusations, including a recipe for traffic prescription, including traffic over 22 kilograms (48 pounds) oxycodone, over 26 kilograms (57 kilograms) hydrocodone and just shy of one kilogram of hydromone.
The FDLE investigation began in December 2020 after learning that the local obstetrician-gynecologist, later identified as Dr. Ilaine Sharp, wrote excessive amount of recipes for controlled substances and recommended that her patients fill in Pace Pharmacy’s prescriptions. At the same time, FDle works with numerous state, local and federal agencies to investigate numerous accusations of a mill operation in the area.
Agents say Burklows and Winkles have accepted and supplied illegal recipes (including oxycodone, hydraulic and hydrocodone) outside the course of professional practice and are not intended for medical purposes or need. In addition, Stephen Burklow, through the Pace pharmacy, claims to have charged numerous insurance companies using the national provider of national doctors (NPI) without their knowledge or consent for recipes that may or may not be provided to patients.

On June 23, Stephen Berklu was arrested on charges of crime and possession of drugs, as well as in cash of crimes to possess a new legend. Monique Burklow was arrested for possession of drugs and a crime by counting a new legend of drug.

Pace Pace Pharmacy and Burklow Family Famile face a lawsuit arising from the patient’s death
Along with their criminal charges, Berklaus and winks are faced with a case brought by the family of Andrew Strieland, a 47-year-old man who died just days after filling a recipe written by Sharp, according to Levin Pautonio Peter Muggie’s lawyer.
Strickland was found in his room inappropriate in June 2023. Approximately 10 days after filling the recipe, and Mugi says that Stephen Berklu, Monique Burklau, widen and pace pharmacy are responsible.
“This is a case for accountability,” Mugi said. “Pharmacies have a legal and moral obligation to act as a line of defense against dangerous prescription practices.
“In this case, this obligation was catastrophically violated and their inability to obey the law and their professional duties cost the person his life,” Mugi added.
